Acne Skin Care Tips For Better Skin

Acne is a fairly common skin problem and it is not limited to teens. In fact, even adult men and women still get acne. Fortunately, acne can be treated, and very often, it goes away either through successful treatment or on its own. If you have acne now, you might want to consider certain steps to protect your skin. Here are some acne skin care tips you might want to consider:

Keep Your Skin Clean But Not Squeaky Clean.

Clean skin is skin you wash just twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening before bed. Do not wash more than you need to unless your face gets dirty or sweaty. Washing your skin frequently will strip it of its natural protective oils and make it much more sensitive and prone to breakouts.

Use the Right Kind of Makeup.

If you have acne, you need to choose the type of makeup and makeup accessories you use very carefully. Try non-comedogenic products – the kind that do not clog the pores. These products are generally kinder to the skin and easier to remove.

Be Selfish.

Although acne is not contagious, it is important not to share your cosmetic products with others. Makeup, makeup brushes, applicators, and sponges make direct contact with the skin. They collect dead skin cells, oils, and microorganisms that may be passed on to the next user. Bacteria and other types of microorganisms can cause skin problems. To avoid this, do not share makeup and other accessories with others.

Don’t Pick and Choose Spots.

Apply a thin layer of product over the entire area and not just on the spots or blemishes. The key is to spread an even layer over the skin to protect it, treat the acne, and prevent a breakout. Treating only the spots or blemishes is not as effective because new blemishes will develop on untreated spots. By treating the whole face, for example, you treat and prevent the problems at the same time.

Avoid Frequent Changes in Skin Care Products.

Check any shopping mart’s aisles and you will find dozens of acne skin care products that all promise clear skin. It might be tempting to buy a few and give each a try but skincare for acne does not work by magic. In general, skincare products require about 6 – 8 weeks to show results. Your skin will take about 3-4 months to clear completely. Wait for the product to take effect to see if it actually works for you. If it does not, change to another product.
