Being Adventurous With Colored Contact Lens

Colored contact lens allows you to change the color of your eyes by creating a look that is bold, subtle or anywhere in between. Whether your aim is to rock a zany design for Halloween or another special occasion or put a spin on your everyday look. Colored contact lenses are available in both plano and prescription forms:

• Plano Contacts

These lenses do not play any role in vision correction and are purely worn for cosmetic purposes to rock a new eye color.

• Prescription Contacts

These lenses can be used to correct your nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) or astigmatism. In addition, they enhance or totally change the color of your eyes.

Types of Colored Contacts

The majority of colored lenses are designed to imitate the natural look of the iris, which is the colored section of the eye. Since the section is made up of colorful lines and shapes, some colored contacts have a series of radially-arranged colored shapes and lines and miniature colored dots to assist the lenses in looking more natural when placed on the iris. The middle of the lens, the section that goes over your pupil, is transparent so you will be able to see cleary.

There are 3 kinds of tints in which color contacts are available:

Opaque Tint

This non-transparent tint is designed to completely change the color of your eyes. If you have dark eyes, you will need this variety of color lenses to get the eye color you desire. The lenses with this type of tint are available in a wide assortment of colors and include green, hazel, violet, blue, gray, brown and amethyst.

Theatrical or costume lenses fall into the classification of opaque tints as well. They have long been used in the movies and now these special-effect lenses are widely available. You can transform yourself temporarily into a vampire, gothic or alien.

Enhancement Tint

This tint is both translucent (see-through) and solid and it is a bit darker when compared to a visibility tint. As implied by the name, the enhancement tint is intended to enhance the natural eye color. Colored lenses with this kind of tint are usually best for individuals who have light-colored eyes and would like to have their eyes looking more vibrant.

Visibility Tint

Typically, this is a light green or blue tint that is added to a lens to assist you in seeing it better when it is being inserted, removed or if it has been dropped. Visibility tints do not affect the eye color as they are fairly faint.
