Introducing Water Bore Drilling

Water bore drilling (a.k.a. water borehole drilling, water well drilling) is when you drill a hole into the ground to access the water there. Once you’ve drilled a hole it’s cased with steel and a pump system so that the water can be collected and brought to the surface.

Equipment Used for Water Borehole Drilling

The equipment that you’ll need to use to dig this hole will depend upon your ground soil’s condition and how deep underground the water is located. There are numerous types of drills that you can use here. For instance, if you have soft soil and the water is located near its surface, you’ll want to use an auger drill. However, if you have poor soil conditions you’ll need to use an air core drill.

Unfortunately, you’ll need a lot of other types of equipment here as well. This is because you’re not only drilling down into the soil but you’ll also need to extract the excess soil. Therefore you’ll need hydraulic winches, mud pumps, and air compressors.

The Process Used for Water Borehole Drilling

Once you’ve gathered up all the equipment you’ll need to use in the drilling process there are four steps you’ll need to take.

First, you’ll need to hire a hydrogeologist to visit the site so they can assess the geophysical properties of the location. It’s up to them to tell you where the water is located and how you’ll be able to reach it.

Secondly, you’ll be able to use the hydrogeologist’s recommendations to drill the water borehole. Once you’ve drilled the hole you’ll need to case it with steel, stainless steel, PVC, or a combination of all three.

Thirdly, you’re ready to install a test pump. This will allow you to test the borehole for a variety of things. These tests’ results will help you determine how you can make some changes to the area to impact the overall water level in the borehole itself.

Fourth and finally, it’s time to install an appropriate pumping and piping system in your borehole.

Advantages of Water Borehole Drilling

Water bore drilling is a great way to create an alternative stream of water. This is especially true for anyone who needs a lot of water and their main supply is either of poor quality or unreliable. Here you’ll have safe, clean water, at a consistent water pressure that’ll save you a lot of money.
