The early learning centre Auckland is an early childhood education establishment that has been open for more than 40 years. The center was founded by Helen Rodda, who wanted to provide early childhood education to the children in her neighborhood. The center now reaches out across New Zealand with its services based on the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
What does this center have to offer?
This center operates in a way that is very different from other early childhood classrooms. They have no curriculum or schedules for the children to follow. Still, instead, they let the kids explore whatever interests them at any given time. The teachers are there as their “guide on the side” rather than authority figures giving orders. This non-traditional approach has proved successful. Many of its graduates are now alumni of some top schools around New Zealand and Australia, such as ACG Strathallan, Sancta Maria College, and Auckland Grammar School.
Auckland’s center also offers two pre-schools: Little Tots and Tiny Tots, which focus on teaching babies between six months old and three years old, and its primary Montessori school for three to six-year-olds.
