The Origin Of Head Start Software

Head Start Software is a program based on a catch-up summer school program that taught underprivileged and low-income children, in a few weeks of summer, all they needed to know before they could start elementary school in the New School Year, which is run by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

It is a comprehensive program providing these children with the essential health education, which involves the parents as well, covering vital subjects relating to health and nutrition.

It offers services and resources that are designed to not only foster but create, where needed, the stable family relationship key that enhances the children’s physical, as well as emotional stability and well being. This leads to the most important part of a child’s cognitive functions which is the environment which they need to feed on to, become a strong and developed part of their education and social skills.

This program is very important in the stage of the child’s education when it comes to the crossover stage of Preschool to Elementary School. This poses a very diverse but challenging stage in a child’s schooling path as it requires the child to engage in the new peerage environment that excludes the family network and has to adjust to the open classroom spaces and now has to face the schooling expectations and it’s settings.

It was originally launched back in 1965 by its creator and then director Jule Sugarman, as part of the then president of The United States, President Lyndon B Johnson’s Great Society Campaign. Later known and revised in 1981 as the Head Start Act and expanded the program which was then revised and reauthorized in 2007. In late 2005 under the directorship of Dr. Deborah Bergeron, over 22 000 000 children were participating in this program

Stan Salett, a civil rights organizer and national education policy advisor created a similar program called Upward Bound Program can also be credited with the development and implementation of the Head Start program of today.

Head Start Software was developed in 1994 with the establishment of the Early Head Start program that served children from birth to the age of three. This was crucial stages of the development programs nationally, as it was medically indicated that this was the age group where the children developed the critically vital stages of growth and functions.

Today there are more children reached and enrolled in this program or have access to the software than ever before.
