Micro irrigation fittings come in a variety of sizes and styles. You’ll find compression, Barbed, Perma-Loc, and Goof plugs, among others. But what type of fitting will best suit your application? Let’s look at a few of the different types.
Barbed
When installing a micro irrigation system, one of the first things you should do is determine what type of fitting is appropriate for your micro irrigation system. There are three main styles: Barbed, Compression, and Perma-Loc. Each style has its pros and cons.
Compression
Compression fittings are commonly used to connect PE tubing. These fittings are simple and effective and provide full-flow characteristics. They can be made from glass-reinforced polypropylene or PVC. Compression fittings are designed to fit the most popular drip line sizes and are easy to install. These fittings have been developed by Jain Irrigation, a leader in drip irrigation fittings. Their products have a reputation for reliability and customer service.
Perma-Loc
Perma-Loc micro irrigation connectors are designed to make the assembly process of your irrigation system easy and quick. These connectors use a spin-lock mechanism that ensures a reliable grip. They also allow you to remove the fittings and reuse them later.
Goof plugs
Goof plugs are a basic irrigation system accessory. They plug holes in 1/4″ to 1/2″ tubing and can be used on drip systems or mainline tubing. The plugs are barbed on one end and flat on the other end. You can use a Goof Plug to plug the end of the dripline, micro tubing, or a soaker hose.
Flush and vacuum relief valves
Flush and vacuum relief valves are very important features of micro irrigation fittings. These valves allow water to exit the system when the water flow stops or when the pressure in the line drops below a threshold. They are necessary to clean out your irrigation system and maximize the efficiency of your irrigation system.
Chemical injectors
Chemical injectors are designed to add chemicals to the water to prevent bacterial growth or chemical precipitates from clogging the irrigation system. Injection rates are determined by the irrigation system’s operating pressures and flow characteristics. There are several different types of injectors on the market, each with its advantages and disadvantages.
Tap adaptor
Micro irrigation fittings are an excellent way to water your garden from the tap. They can be used with various garden irrigation systems, allowing you to control watering levels. They can be installed on the bottom of a pressure reducer or Tap Timer and come in various sizes.
