What is a Stoicism and a Stoic Mindset Meaning?
Firstly, let us just start with what is a Stoic?
It is a person who without showing hardship, pain, and or complains about it even while suffering or enduring any of it.
Coming from the school of Stoicism founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens, it is a school of thought known as Hellenistic philosophy.
This occurred during the #rd century BC had had a major following by sages that were emotionally resilient to misfortune and because of their virtue of sufficiency for happiness and was more than
emphasized by many Stoics like Seneca and Epictetus.
What is a Stoic Mindset Meaning? Coming from the ancient Greco-Roman Philosophical way of living and thinking, Stoicism has four virtues
- Wisdom
- Justice
- Courage
- Temperance: this one then again divided into three different parts or subdivisions:
1: Discipline–having the discipline not only in ones-self but
in everyone, one else will make everything in this world
fall into place like it should be
2: Self-control
3: Modesty
What does it to be Stoic?
Being almost without emotion and calm, no matter the situation and without showing any feelings while accepting whatever happens, as it happens and just going with it is being a pure Stoic.
To use Stoic as a noun is to call someone that is without or non-emotional.
Whereas using it as an adjective is to describe someone, something, and or action that seems totally blank and or emotionless.
There are 8 mindsets with the cultivation of Stoicism thought:
- 1: Always be the kind one.
- 2: Be the one that is an External Student on life and thoughts.
- 3: If something is better left unsaid, well, then leave it unsaid.
- 4: Rather buy into Tranquility instead of getting disturbed.
- 5: If confronted by a challenging situation see and use it as an opportunity.
- 6: If there is a choice between Anger or Calm and Courage always choose courage and calm.
- 7: Play well with the cards you are dealt in life and to the fullest.
- 8: Whatever happens, just love it!
Can you Stoic and happy at the same time?
Stoics are always identified as being rational and virtuous as they believe in a happy life through cultivating excellent states of mentality by using the key of what they call living a good happy life.
It is unfortunate that because of many of the original early or ancient Stoic works are lost or destroyed but we do have
the Roman Stoic influences of centuries ago that are continuing today
Is Stoicism negative or positive?
That is a none question when it comes to Stoicism as Stoics believe negatives and positives are outside influences and are beyond their and our control and they only concentrate on what can be controlled and never allow anything that cannot be controlled to dictate or take over their lives.
What is known as typical Stoic behavior?
A state of mind is the simplest way to explain it. Stoics believe if you can control your mind or way of thinking and not allow outside influences to do it for you can only benefit from it because it’s a choice made by you and no one else
