What Is PMP Certification

What Is PMP Certification

Project Management Professional ( PMP ) certification is a credential recognized in the industry for project managers.

The ability to not only direct but lead projects through experience, competency, education, and skill are all demonstrated through PMP Certification and is one of the USA’s most sought after certifications which the Project Management Institute, USA, administers.

To get a PMP Certification (PMPC) you need to follow the steps listed below:

  • 1: The Application Process for the PMP EXAM
  • 2: Registering with the Project Management Institute to become a PMI member
  • 3: The Education Requirement (PDUs) requires you to satisfy them with 35 hrs by taking the PMP Certification (PMPC) training course
  • 4: Online submission of your PMP application
  • 5 Get you examination scheduled via Pearson VUE
  • 6: take and pass the examination to become a (PMPC)

What would a typical PMP’s duties include?

  • PLANNING PROJECTS
  • EXECUTING PROJECTS
  • CLOSING PROJECTS
  • DEFINING PROJECTS
  • BUILDING A WORK PLAN THAT IS COMPREHENSIVE
  • BUDGET MANAGEMENT OF EACH PLAN AND OR PROJECT
  • TEAM MANAGEMENT
  • PRODUCTIVITY AND COMMITMENT FACILITATING
  • TEAM MOTIVATION
  • OBSTACLE REMOVALS WHICH MAY HINDER PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT

Is PMPC better than an MBA?

This would be like comparing oranges and apples, though booth are fruit and healthy they are different-MBA is a degree whereas (PMPC) is a certification, though both internationally recognized and deals with the business world but have different requirements and goals

Though a (PMPC) is not a degree it is superior to a masters in project management as it will represent at least seven thousand five hundred hours of actual experience in directing, setting up and leading projects whilst still being assessed objectively in the theoretical knowledge whereas as masters in project management is nothing more than just theoretical knowledge.

Hence the fact you need experience gained before you can get your (PMPC) hundred hours experience

Before you can even apply or consider acceptance into the (PMPC) course the stepping stone that needs to be reached is a minimum of four thousand five hours experience in or with exposure and or experience to project management, with a bachelor’s degree and should be non-overlapping. Apparently, this term confuses people??

Having (PMPC) is truly worth it when you consider your potential for learning higher salaries and marketing yourself to the right employer and according to a recent PMI survey (PMPC) earns approximately 25 % more than that of their non-certified peers.
