A Fun Way Of Introducing Your Kids To Science

A Fun Way Of Introducing Your Kids To Science

To many children, school breaks mean an escape from books and a chance to have fun at home. Nevertheless, too much play may dull their ability to remember what they learned at school. Involving them in silly science experiments will ensure that their minds are not too far away from education while they still enjoy their stay at home to the fullest. In addition, you will help arouse their curiosity and spirit of exploration as well as inspire them to ask questions. In the process, they will learn.

Here are some ideas that will go a long way in helping you get you on the way:

1. Move away from the Normal

You may have been top of your class in your school days. Most of the hard facts and principles of science will, however, not come with much fun. Therefore, don’t be tempted into focusing on projects requiring normal scientific knowledge. Remember, it is not all about learning; the biggest part of the process should be fun. Thinking outside the box will be a great help in not only exciting the children into asking a lot of questions but also heightening their curiosity. Your scientific knowledge will come in handy when answering the questions and explaining occurrences.

2. Go outside the Home Area

Summer is a perfect season for outdoor explorations. There are a lot of activities that are easy and fun to perform. You can take the children out to search for butterflies, lizards, frogs, caterpillars and even bird nests. You can build and use kites paper planes, make sun prints and use a sprinkler to create rainbows. Just don’t limit the activities to your yard.

3. Stay Up at Night

Some of the planet’s most marvelous occurrences happen at night. You will always find a summer night sky clear enough to reveal the stars and constellations. Again, your scientific knowledge will help you point out the various patterns of the stars and provide a bit of explanation to the kids. You can still get involved in more active occupations as such hunting down the glowing fireflies.

Parting Words

Learning does not have to happen at school. In addition, it does not have to be a rigid and dull process. The more fun there is in learning, the more likely that the gained knowledge will stick to the minds of the children. There are few better ways of helping your children store and remember valuable information that they learn in school than silly science experiments. Just remove the boundaries and let them explore freely, observe and ask questions.
